Faculty development day workshop 15 April 2025
Faculty development day began with departmental informational updates from the office of the president, enrollment management and student services, institutional effectiveness and quality assurance, cooperative research and extension, and administration.
The workshop evaluation asked faculty to respond to prompts by agreeing or disagreeing with the prompt. The responses were converted to numeric values:
- Strongly disagree
- Disagree
- Neutral
- Agree
- Strongly agree
With 13 responses recorded, averages were calculated for each prompt.
Results by individual prompts for each session
With all of the averages above four, faculty generally agreed or strongly agreed with the prompt. The overall average was 4.51. Averages close to 4.51 are yellow, averages elevated above 4.51 are green, averages below 4.51 are shades of orange.
Overall averages by session
The morning sessions rated higher than the afternoon sessions. The differences are small and faculty generally agreed or strongly agreed with the prompt. Although the differences are small, the means for the morning and afternoon sessions were statistically separated with the afternoon sessions underperforming the morning sessions overall.
Aggregating by the prompts for all four sessions indicates that faculty found the sessions to informative. Faculty also felt that they will be able to apply what they learned. While faculty agreed that there was sufficient time and coverage, these prompts were rated slightly lower than informative and able to apply. These results mirror the results of the August faculty development survey.
Requested coverage of features for future training
Bearing in mind the small sample size, there is interest in learning more about quizzes (and perhaps question banks), BigBlueButton, and IMS content packages. A survey of more faculty to increase the sample size would benefit the training tentatively planned for May.
Quiz question types in use by faculty
Again, the sample size is small. The above chart can only provide preliminary guidance on the question types faculty choose to use. Faculty could select as many types as they use. The dominant question type in use is multiple choice followed by true/false. Matching, short answer, and essay question are also being used by faculty. A few faculty are exploring question types beyond these types. Given that learning more about quizzes was the lead response for future training, these results suggest that quiz training should focus on how to use the less commonly used question types.

The guides are very helpful.
Covered both basic and intermediate topics.
I love the learning of utilizing moodle for my classes and now I am happy that I have learned about appearance, grouping, group, turnitin and the gradebook set up.
Learner works with computer to explore moodle. Being a student to experience the feelings of students. Handbook and guidelines for both students and teachers.
List two recommendations for improvement of the sessions

1. Lessen number of topics to cover 2. Smaller groups/at some points the room is too noisy making it hard to hear the presenter/presenters
Session should be recorded
Options given to faculty either to attend morning or afternoon session depending on areas of improvement
None
Sometimes too basic
Timing
An Agenda can be provided few days ahead of time. Break the faculties into groups as not all faculties would need to be introduced the basic skills over and over.
Prepare the course sandbox that we all could go through and let the faculty do it themselves after.
I recommend for the upcoming moodle workshop to be crystal clear like this one, and no distraction during the presentation, like speak quietly to your shoulder partners.
1. Online application for teachers to use when creating live presentations in class. 2. Math resources/application available for students to use online.
From what you know of Moodle at present, what areas should future Moodle training focus upon?

Grading and Turn it-in
Uploading quiz questions from Microsoft word to Moodle
Alignment of data to student learning outcomes
Student engagement
How to share the guides to our students on our Moodle pages.
Moodle itself has a lot of shortcomings. These can't be supported by trainings.
Moodle database
More on turnitin and the ones that were not presented.
More practice with creating quiz

Good work on providing the guidelines for all the activities.
Since we were given the pre-survey. Put faculties into the right group to fulfill the needs.
Overall, a very good workshop
I am so thankful!
