Moodle assignment viewer pagination and view issues
A laboratory report came in with a table not displayed, a graph cropped, and pagination changes that negatively impacted marking the assignment. The first three images are pages as seen in the original word processing software package.
The next page was a graph well centered on the full page.
The next page was of three more screenshots.
The following images are of the document as seen in the Moodle assignment grading viewer.
Note that the third table, which extended beyond the page bottom, is not shown in the Moodle viewer on this page.
The original document has been repaginated so as to display the table on the next page. This pushed that graph down the page. The graph is now cut off by the bottom of the page. There is nothing more to see, which means the x-axis label cannot now be seen. The instructor would have no idea that the x-axis label was there in the original, or that the issue was the third data table extending beyond the page bottom.
As seen on the very next page, the third data analysis screenshot is gone, only the "Fast" title remains as a ghostly reminder that there was something there once.
The workaround is to download documents in order to view the original document. Do not trust the viewer. The issue is probably not in Moodle per se but rather in the conversion library being used by the viewer. Further information is being sought to try to understand what software was used to compose the report and on what platform the document was submitted.
