Linear velocity with a four square ball

In a return to an earlier version of the laboratory, a four square ball was rolled slow, medium, and fast across markings at one meter, two meters, and three meters for each speed respectively.

This laboratory actually went better than I had recalled. I bowled for both sections. A two handed push produced reasonably slow speeds that were perhaps a tad higher than historical values, but the extra oomph also saw the ball make the six meter mark fairly easily at 1.5 to 2 m/s. Meter on meter lap times were tight at 0.5 seconds but doable. I used a two hand pitch at medium speeds, and a two meter lap distance was workable. In the morning the fast ball was timed on four meter intervals, in the afternoon I added marks to the north side of the sidewalk at three meter intervals and kept the fast ball up around 6.5 to 7.5 m/s.

  1. I figured the chalk markings I saw that day was for Prof. Lee Ling's Physics class lol. This is also the spot where I believe I saw a Youtube video of Prof. riding a rip stick. Also hi, Cede :))
