Social media survey summer 2016 update

A convenience sample survey of social media preferences answered by twelve students in MS 150 Statistics at the College of Micronesia-FSM summer 2016. For the third term in a row the survey was administered via a modified Schoology quiz that was used to pose options as multiple choice questions. The quiz and questions carried zero points, there were no right or wrong answers. The number of students surveyed this summer reflects smaller class sizes.

The social media landscape remains fairly stable with FaceBook retaining first rank. The rise of Google+ may reflect actual use or may reflect the rise of the use of Android based technologies which require a Google sign on. Instagram appears to be gaining traction. WhatsApp and SnapChat did not appear as responses this summer, perhaps due to the small sample size. The data underneath the above chart can be viewed in a Google Sheets spreadsheet.
