Drawing clouds
Laboratory eight focuses on observation and the production of an accurate sketch of a cloud. During the regular term these drawings are submitted and marked using arubric.
Joshua at work on his sketch
Rihter with her cumulus congestus rendering
Tellez sketching clouds over Sokeh's ridge line
Yvonne Sue working on a Cumulus capillatus incus
This term I opted not to bring in the photo album. I chose instead to show images of clouds from my blog in the 8:00 section. For the 11:00 section I prepared a slide show in Picasa (local client) of a hundred cloud images. Neither worked as well as the photo album approach. The resulting images were of a far lower quality than past terms. This is a one off that ought not be repeated. Possibly a return next spring to the summer approach of hanging the images up, nameless, with students as judges? Number the images. Have the students rank them for accuracy, effort?
