Folk dancing and clogging

The whole family went to the Folklore Village outside of Dodgeville to engage in some good old fashioned barn dancing and clogging. The evening started with potluck dinner that included home grown fruit and vegetables.

The Village is a full contact participatory experience, Shrue and Sharisey pitched in on the dishes after dinner while I helped fold and put away the tables.

With the dining hall cleared, Chirps Smith and friends began to play and the caller, Dot Kent, called everyone onto the beautiful hardwood floor.

Near the end of the evening the two youngest settled in next to Dot and enjoyed Chirps, the band, and the dancing.

Wall flowers for a moment, Sharisey would hold her own during one of the longest and most complex dances, partnered with a very capable local square dancer. She quickly picked up the subtle hand positions needed for chaining and other dance moves.
More information about the Folklore Village for those with broad band.
