Dr. Evermore and the Forevertron
A sunny Saturday road trip to lands mythical and magical!

The kids stand in front of the Forevertron, a machine that when completed will permit travel in space and time. The Forevertron is the creation of Tom Every, and we were fortunate enough to meet the incredible man himself.

His creations are nothing short of mesmerizing, and they are all interactive. Tom notes that he does not alter the original materials, just welds existing materials and shapes to form new ones. The bird above include engine pistons for feathers. In the background above is the komodo dragon.

While the Forevertron is the centerpiece, in a discussion with Tom Every I learned that some of his newer work is designed with producing sounds in mind. His komodo dragons include half-cylinders that ring like bells, each a unique tone, and thousands of scales that also produce unique sounds. The whole sculpture is meant to be an interactive sound generator. At Tom's direction, the kids each chose a random piece of junk with which to strike the dragon.

The electro-dynamo at the heart of the Forevertron. The more you look at one of Dr. Evermor's creations, the more you see. You just have to believe.
Along with stops at various shoe and tack stores, the road trip ended at Wollerscheim Wineries. The grapes of wrath those are not! While dad learned about cork and cap choices, the kids were entertained in the craft corner.
