Colors of cell phone light

The class opened with a playlist on color perception.

Then the class viewed a Blackview cell phone screen though the microscope. The Blackview is necessary due to the small pixel size of higher end phones.

The image was of the yellow cap on a refrigerator magnet. The microscope is resident in A101 and requires no temperature equalization ahead of the lab.

This lab is done on cell phones.

Donuts and coffee were available.

Board notes

At 11:00 a circle construction was used to introduce HSV. The laboratory is running long in the current format, pushing out towards two and half hours. Having a back-up lunch plan is useful.

Friday the blue light, black light, microplastics run was done with a playlist, presentation, and a visit to A102. The playlist was run all the way through prior to the blue light presentation. A102 had a class, but that class dismissed early enough to pull off the microplastics demo using the black light flashlight. This is still one of the more powerful sessions in the course - the students are always stunned by the microplastics on their clothing.
