072 Arcseconds to meters conversion factor

The heat and sun altered the laboratory to take advantage of shade and the new metric measuring wheel.

Start location at 6° 54' 35" north, 158° 09' 30" east. 8:00 measured along a line of latitude.

Iryann and Maicalany at the start location. The heat was concerning, so the class moved from shade location to shade location, taking advantage of the metric wheel.

After a stop in the shade of the Terminalia catappa, the next shade was at the parking lot.

iPhone Compass app users simply recorded the seconds value shown. Android users with GPSTest recorded arcseconds to the hundredth of an arcsecond.

GPSTest arcsecond data, distances were wherever there was shade. The new measuring wheel made this work beautifully.

Shade was grabbed where it could be found along the route.

8:00 and unlabeled axes

11:00 and still unlabeled axes. Working with seconds is easier and more obvious than those fractional arcminutes - which were simply a result of the early model handheld GPS units. Going shade to shade worked so good. This went from a dizzy day lab on a sunny day to a pleasant walk on a hot campus.
