The ethnobotany class studies the plants people use and how those plants are used. The unit on material cultural uses of plant products includes economic botany, economically valuable plants and their uses. The coconut tree is literally the tree of life and a tremendous natural resource. Once again a crack team of experts at drawing judged the drawings and sorted them out according to cloud quality. The judging team has over eight years of coloring experience. They carefully considered each drawing. The judges debating the merits of one of the drawings. Resequencing the drawings - a part of the marking process. The students in the ethnobotany class presented plant based foods of Micronesia. Sasha Santiago of Pohnpei led off with kirahka mwangas - local coconut candy. The coconut candy was wrapped in a dried banana leaf. Sasha Coconut (copra) is cooked with sugar until the sugar carmelizes. Week nine of physical science began with the laying down of a RipStik sine wave on three sheets of paper. About three wavelengths were laid down in 1.29 seconds with an 8 cm amplitude. Wavelength was measured at 57 cm. At 8 cm, the amplitude was a tad larger than in past terms. I opted to shift the paper slightly east of where I usually locate the paper. Rain splatter was only one factor. The location worked well, I used a westbound run to lay down the wave.
