Canvas analytics and assessment data week twelve fall 2021

Engagement on the Instructure Canvas platform as measured by page views collapsed in week twelve. Not only were page views below 50% of the prior week's page views, the number was a quarter of the engagement seen around midterm.

While Wednesday was a holiday, the lowest level of engagement was seen on Tuesday, not the holiday. Note that Friday numbers are not final at the time of the writing of this article. This suggests the possibility that stipend disbursements which started on Monday provided an initial negative impact on engagement, which may have carried over into the midweek holiday. Next week includes two holidays, with yet one more holiday landing a week and half later. The learning impact of this "Swiss cheese" of five holidays from 25 October to 23 November is not known.*

As the term enters the last quarter of the term, the addition of materials by instructors shows signs of tapering off.

Assessment

Learning outcome assessment by subaccounts (campuses) now includes data from Kosrae campus. As in prior weeks, all of the dashboards are updated by a single update of one table exported from Canvas and then imported into the Google Sheet driving the Data Studio dashboards.

The above dashboard includes average performance by subaccount and performance against the current eight and proposed five institutional learning outcomes. The dashboard is interactive and can be used to visualize performance by subaccount against the institutional learning outcomes. As configured above, the dashboard is only showing data for assignments marked by rubrics.

* While only the campuses in Pohnpei state have a fifth holiday on November 8, Chuuk and Kosrae pick up their fifth holiday on November 25.
