Canvas analytics and assessment data week eight fall 2021

Week eight saw additional classes come up in Instructure Canvas. These courses appear to be ACE courses that started up on October 7. The platform has 31 instructors logging in and is serving 977 students.

Week eight saw an increase in platform engagement on Monday and Tuesday, the days scheduled for midterm evaluations in the calendar.

Total weekly page views have seen an uptick in weeks seven and eight. Saturday and Sunday of week eight, however, saw some of the least weekend engagement to date.

The course learning outcomes fall 2021 dashboard consists of four dashboards: Course learning outcomes overview with program and institutional learning outcomes shown, CSLO raw ratings which displays results for courses where the instructor has chosen to strip out the numeric rating scale, a campus analysis, and course level performance overview. The scale is a five point scale detailed in a post last March. A discussion of mapping decisions can be found in the week two and three reports.

The general education outcomes dashboard displays the results of 3,077 assessments of 170 students. The overall average at present is four - a sufficient performance on the five point rating scale. On the rating scale a four is considered to be evidence that the student has demonstrated the student learning outcome.

The learning outcomes disaggregated against student information system variables are only available for the author's courses. The dashboard is comprised of a set of four dashboards that explore learning by course level outcomes and a subset of student information system variables for the author's courses.

The overall average learning outcome performance over time dashboard was changed from a running cumulative average to daily average basis.

Faculty at the college who are using Canvas can learn how to report learning to the institutional assessment dashboards from the following video.

Course learning outcomes from the institutional bank can be included in rubrics or in classic quiz question banks.
