Local foods of Micronesia

Dish names are Pohnpeian unless otherwise specified.

Amaryssa and Tamaris  presented Mortlockese uht amahd, ground banana mixed with coconut milk and sugar then boiled in a banana leaf.

Maicalany, Merrryoleen, and Marco presented Pohnpeian uht doamwdoamw. Grated boiled banana hand rolled back into the shape of a banana.

Austin presented Mwoakillese banana fritters known as daiduhs.

Jamielyn, on lead, presented outer island Yapese maie ferai: breadfruit chips. These are a thicker breadfruit chip, closer to a cottage fry than to a chip. Wonderful food, great visual.

Marikai, Keesha, and Sueleen presented Pohnpeian uht idihd, the Pohnpeian counterpart to Kosraean ap and Mortlockese ush amahd.

Delaura Dolly presenting mahi mwehl. Boiled ripe breadfruit with coconut. Pot was covered with Abelmoschus manihot leaves, sometimes referred to locally as pehle, spelling uncertain.
