Physci day one and two with density
Day one was still in the add/drop period with three of eighteen absent. Coverage focused on the course syllabus, calendar, learning outcomes, and the nature of the course.
After carving the slab, the first data point was recorded on the board. The rest were entered into Desmos and later displayed on the SmartBoard using SmartMirror and the Tripltek tablet. The tablet, running Android 10, holds a connection to the SmartBoard better than newer versions of Android.
Tuesday started with tech Tuesday, app downloads, app demonstrations, and submitting screenshots. Then measurement and density were introduced.
Tuesday morning opened with coverage of what apps to download. The introduction overlooked coverage of the screenshot assignment. Then the metric system and measurement were introduced.
The introduction began with space, time, matter, and energy. Energy was then set aside. Typical variables were listed followed by the metric system units used for those measurements, both MKS and CGS. The concept that one cubic centimeter is one milliliter of water and is one gram was introducted. 500 ml bottles of water were massed, with the newer bottle coming in at 501 grams. Two 500 ml bottles massed 996 grams, just shy of a kilogram.
Then density was introduced, including that the density of water is one gram per cubic centimeter. Following this the metal blocks were massed, which led into coverage of floating versus sinking based on density.
Soap was purchased the weekend before, an eclectic mix of soaps from Yoshie.
In the laboratory session the demonstration was done differently. Instead of splitting the demonstration into two separate demonstrations - one up front on how to gather the data and one late in the period for how to do the report - the demonstration was a non-stop beginning to end demonstration. Including carving the Lux Magical Spell soap into the rectangular slab.
After carving the slab, the first data point was recorded on the board. The rest were entered into Desmos and later displayed on the SmartBoard using SmartMirror and the Tripltek tablet. The tablet, running Android 10, holds a connection to the SmartBoard better than newer versions of Android.
Five data points were recorded. The intact Lux Magical Spell bar is a scant 80 grams. Carving to a shape close to a rectangular slab left only 48 grams. Four cut-downs left only 26 grams of soap.
The data value at (0 cubic centimeters, 0 grams) was intentionally not included. Data was entered on the Tripltek while seated at the west end of the center table. The table was preset with variables, the graph axes were labeled prior to class.
With Desmos set up, the tablet was linked to the Smartboard. On the tablet screenshots were made as seen above. Then a new Google Docs document was opened and the assembly of the laboratory report was done on the tablet and mirrored to the Smarboard.
The SmartBoard is displaying take-a-screenshot.org. Jenry-Thor, Arnold, and Ellinae work on carving their soap into a rectangular slab. Seniko watches Arnold, Austin makes notes.

Arnold continues to trim the soap with Seniko watching.
All soaps are now sinking soaps. Ivory stopped producing aerated floating soap circa 2023.
