4.1 RipStik introduction to linear regressions

This term the empty courtyard of the future student union beckoned.

Gear was RipStik, tape measure, timer, and foam beads.

Form beads proved sufficient for seeing the distance marks while riding. The wind funnels through the building which displaced a couple foam beads. 24 meters was the maximum distance.

27 meters is not quite possible - the wall is out around 26.7 meters.

The lap times were seven, not eight, which means a timing mark was missed. Looking at the lap times the time from 3 to 6 was long at 5.537 seconds. That suggested that six was missed and the 9.317 second time is out at 9 meters.

Bear in mind that the start was intentionally at one meter and the starting velocity was 0 meters per second. The intent was to force the existence of a y-intercept. Future runs might want to skip the three meter mark split time and mark the first lap time at 6 meters. The start of this run was unstable.
