Lab 12 Reflection and refraction
On Wednesday I tested out red food color in the water. The laser beam remained invisible. The theory that red water scatters red light did not apply in this case. I once again moved the mirror to the front of the class, but this might not have really helped.
The set up.
The right board. I really must work on the rainbow color order.
Early morning setup
Sandpaper blocked the direct view which, if left unblocked, confuses students. Opaque containers might perform better.
Shirlyann enters data into Desmos on her cell phone
Jasen estimates the location of the penny image in an apparent depth determination of the index of refraction for water
Brenda working on apparent depth
Shirlyann measures the apparent depth of a penny as located by Brenda. Hedweag, working with Lomalinda and Margarette, is locating the apparent depth of a penny in a graduated cylinder filled with a different amount of water.
Leila Marie records reflection data taken by Mahea Lani.
Joyleen works on the apparent depth of a penny
The smaller beakers are more challenging for everyone. Lisa Praise makes measurements while Lilly Rose records the measurements.
