Cancer Coalition Fun Walk 5k

The Pohnpei Cancer Coalition sponsored a 5k fun walk and run with a start and end at Spanish Wall. The theme was "Women Against Cancer."
The young woman in pink is in fourth place, Elena "Limat" Salvador Yamada is in fifth place. Although the FSMNOC Secretary General had announced the event on the prior Saturday, I had been across the street warming up and missed the announcement. Minus the college and the Pohnpei Track Club, the running competition was sparse. I took second behind Tom of Idaho. Tom had actually been out on his Saturday long run when he happened up the cancer coalition run. He then jumped right into the event and took first place.
My favorites twins separated at birth, Sylvana and Ivyrose.
Two key leaders in the nutrition and health movement, Lois Englberger and Bernolina Hedson. Bernolina is eating a high beta-carotine banana locally called a "karat." Let's go local! Eat local, live local, think local!

I used the opportunity to push the sakau-joggling combination, attempting a Friday evening at Koahn and then joining this event oan sakau. Although I came in second, it was a slow 30:56 and nothing felt good at any time during the run. Running and sakau - do not try that at home. I called on all 31 years of running capacity and 17 years of sakau drinking to complete the course. I am no professional, but in the world of runners who drink sakau I am almost alone on the planet. Runners who run and juggle after drinking sakau I am the only person out of six billion who has even had that thought cross their mind. If there is such a thing as a professional sakau drinking joggler, then I am he.
