World AIDS Day March
The college marked World AIDS Day with a march. The march launched from the Learning Resource Center.
Salter led the College of Micronesia-FSM sharks on the round trip to the gymnasium.
Francisca on the left flank.
Out along the main road the background leaves the impression that the march is out on remote tropical road.
Campus marches here a marked by their overall quietness. Students talk amongst themselves, but there is no shouting or calling out, no singing, and no noise making. One local adage is, "You were not born here, do not make noise here." The admonition translates poorly as there are specific cultural lenses behind the phrase. Attracting attention to oneself is not a traditionally socially accepted practice. If you are at home, you are surrounded by the safety in numbers of the family. Away from home, keep a low profile and do not attract attention. Move quietly. Little wonder are marches are the quiet events that they are.
Nayleen in white marches with a pink ribbon, Katielynne in yellow holds a banner.
College faculty, administration, and staff joined the march including Yolina and Maryallen above. Also seen out on the road was the President of the college and the Vice President for Student Support Services among many others.
